Hi Folks,
Managed to bag a pair of stainless steel window frames which I intend to fit to Jethro at a later date.
Removed the quarter lights, one of which was ordinary painted steel and having fitted new rubbers the stainless steel nearside quarterlight went back in with no trouble and opened and closed squarely in the frame.
The offside drivers one which I salvaged from a damaged frame was an absolute bugger to fit and despite all my efforts it remained out of line with the main window frame, rubbing against the upright when trying to close it.
I can only assume that there are slight differences from unit to unit during manufacture and I will probably use Jethro's existing quarterlight as a replacement on the driver's side.

I replaced a crusty steel quarterlight with a stainless steel one and the two were the same dimensions. Without the glass the metal part is quite flexible, (delicate even) Perhaps in your case the metal is not quite as close up against the glass of the quarterlight as it might be.
