door mirrors

hi has anyone fitted door mounted mirrors to their car that they can actually see out of? i mounted mine on the front of the quarterlight in the little triangle of metal, the drivers side is ok but the passenger side is rubbish, i was going to adapt some but didnt know if anyone knew of a decent set out there, i tried the lucas type that esm sell and these dont work, needs more of an angle pointing in. i could get the clip on ones but i have holes in my triangle

I fitted a pair to the triangle in front of the quarter lights and it took some fiddling to get the angle correct

They need to be higher at the rear than the front, if that makes sense, so you can swivel the mirror heads enough to get a rear view

You need to experiment some more with the actual 'stem' angle

You also need convex not flat glass

That's exactly the idea I was thinking of! Using your ideas i can make some similar thanks that's very useful

Don't fit those daft ones mentioned in the above thread. The only option is to go for proper wing mirrors or the 'overtaking' mirrors. Keep your eyes peeled at autojumbles for the overtaking mirror, and don't pay more than a fiver.
They are made in England by a firm called Stadium and do a good job.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

gotta concur with the last message altho i know a few owners on here don,t like them i find the ones that clip to the window chanel very good , but thats my opinion
