Engine weight

Can anyone please tell me approximately how much an A series (smaller capacities) weighs? Preferably in stone and lbs so I can make the comparison with human weight.

The reason being I want to know if I can fit a couple in my 803 Minor which is my only transport. I know how much a cylinder head feels in weight... but not a whole engine. Just thinking about the old girl's springs. And she would have to cover in excess of 100 miles loaded up (extremely reliable car, as we all know 8) )

The only option is roping in a very reluctant father with a Toyota Avensis station wagon....

You can easily carry one on the front passenger floor - just take the seat out, and another in the boot.

They will be damn heavy to lift in and out so be prepared to dismantle as much as you can, and take the heads off preferably. Then you can spread the weight about a bit. Remove the rear seats and you have a good area to lodge stuff in without it sliding around.

I might also put some wood down to spread the weight and avoid damage to the floor.

As long as it is possible to carry engines without damaging the car is the main thing.

Plastic and thick cardboard - plus an old rug or two.

Putting the engine in an old tyre stops it moving about
