Hi All,

Thought I would introduce myself as I'm likely to be asking far too many questions over the coming months as I undertake the unexpected restoration of a 1954 Series II MM 4dr. Thankfully it's mostly a cosmetic refresh, as the bodywork is generally sound, and the most daunting thing before the respray is aligning the front wings, which seem somewhat cock a doodle diddley-eyed. Beyond that, new seals (which seem generally available, although the windscreen ones for the splitscreens do seem sub par from forum comments ) and carpets should see her mostly on her way to another few decades of use, and perhaps the inclusion of seatbelts would be a welcome addition!

So, all hints and helps welcome. If anyone can recommend somewhere which can provide a full set of screen, door, boot and bonnet rubbers it would be most welcome, though I fear I'm a good few hours of work away from that stage just yet!

http://the.earth.li/~paddy/cgi-bin/indi ... om-011.jpg is how it began!

All the best,

P.

Welcome!

This car used to belong to a Northern Ireland Club member Robert Hoy. It should be a good car without any nasty surprises I hope!

I buy nearly all my parts from East Sussex Minors as they offer a wide range of parts and post quickly, usually in NI by next day.

Good luck with your project :D

Thanks David,

It had been my dad's, but sadly he died before having a chance to get it to the stage he'd like. I suppose this is a question more for the NIMMOC lot, but if any people have any recommendations for people to talk to about the respray, I'd be keen to hear them.

Cheers,

p.

Oh wow, that's quite fantastic.

Sadly I've quite a journey to go before I get to that stage, but it does give me something to work towards, and know the rewards at the end.

cheers,

paddy

Cheers!

It's not unlikely to be down there as I have uncle/aunt down there so a run is quite likely, even without the pottering about the Mournes that I rather enjoy.
