Broken 1/4 light latches...?

Hello,

I have been fitting chrome window tops and the matching 1/4 lights to my two door salloon without any major difficulties. The only problem I have is that on closing the drivers 1/4 light I managed to brake off the latch that effectively locks the thing, where it is fastened to the chrome surrounding the glass :(

Not a problem I thought, I'll just fit a new one!!! However, they appear to be rivitted on...?

Anyone got any magic solutions as to how to repair them...?

Gonna be a bit drafty otherwise!

Remove the quarter light & slide the glass out. Carefully grind away the peened over area of the pin so that it can be removed. Replace the lever/handle & don't forget to refit the washer too. Put it back together & weld at the end of the pin to the frame lug.
I think I've seen replacement pins mentioned on here before, so using one of these would negate the welding bit - just peen it over like the original.

Yeah, you can buy replacement pins, but it may be best to heat the end a little to soften it before peening it over, or it might crack/split and you'll have to go through it all again.
