Morris Minor Owners Club

Hello,
I spotted on ebay a very tidy (on first impressions) Morris Minor Traveller. Obviously someone along the line has gone to a lot of trouble restoring this car.
But why oh why can they not get the final look right.
British racing green and a light blue interior.....come on.
This was obviously a smoke grey or dove grey car until someone who had previously been working on a Bentley or Jaguar decided to load up his spray gun with some paint that was left over and give this car a makeover.
The Morris suits many different colour schemes and we all have our own favourite,but British Racing Green...I do not think so.
If this car had been finished in say Smoke Grey it would have had that wow factor.

P.S Now where is that mustard coloured Marina paint I have left over....oh here it is...come on Moggie you are going to have a repaint.....do not run away come back.!!!!

Not necessarily. The ad states that the interior is all new so it could have been almond green to start with. There are quite a few BRG Minors about and although the colour combination here may not be to everyone's taste it's still a Minor. It could be bright orange with pink spots on it but as long as the owner is happy with it that's the main thing

Nothing wrong with British Racing Green as long as the interior matches

I always fancied an BRG Traveller. I have seen one or two, but these had either a pale grey or pale green interior. I think it's a personal choice at the end of the day.

I agree if the owners Happy! Great.

I saw a bright orange Minor in Hull last year. It was a 70s car and the colour was a real 70's orange too. I thought it worked rather well.

I like British racing green with Old English white, but I would then wouldn't I

i like mid brown with pink.

I see a bright orange one around my area quite often- I live about 8 miles from hull.

Well made comments but.....he is trying to sell it to the open market,advertising it on ebay to get top dollar for it.
We have a 1961 Morris Minor Traveller finished in a lovely Volvo red,anthracite coloured minilite wheels,aftermarket front seats,marina steering column controls for wipers,indicators etc.Aftermarket guages set into a custom made panel in place of the glove box in front of the steering wheel.The headlining and doorcards are finished in a better material than the standard Morris finish..
1275 tuned MG Midget engine,uprated Midget diff and disc brakes up front.
The standard of workmanship has won us many trophies over the years but...... I am not trying to sell it to the public at large.
We have had the vehicle for 27 years and counting.

Hm. Not my cup of tea. Anybody can do whatever the hell they like with their own car. I don't like people telling me what to do with my car, or what should or should not be present on it. Personally, I like mine strictly original apart from a few period modifications (fog and spot lamps, screenwashers, wing mirrors, additional gauges &c.)
I would never change the engine from standard or fit flashing indicators. This is because I want a true taste of 1950s motoring!

However, if everyone turned up at rallies in completely standard Minors, it would be all rather boring, wouldn't it?

perhaps you should consider an old Ford then?

Nope, I'll stick with my little black Moggy thanks, had enough Fords to last a lifetime!

I called my local automotive paint supplier earlier, and they said that they cant find the bright orange with pink spots paint anywhere ... do you have the paint-code for that, it sounds like quite a good colour scheme

Sorry Alain, I don't know the paint code. I've only seen one Minor in this colour combination and it looked like it was a specialist paint job. Might be worth trying some of the custom paint suppliers - they might know [frame][/frame]
