WHICH NEW TYRES
I know it is probably down to personal preference, but which new tyres do you prefer?I am asking as I have bought a set of new wheels from ESM and I don`t want to fork out for five new 155/80/14 tyres, only to find that they are rubbish! Any tyres to avoid? Send PMs if needed to avoid upsetting the Mods! P.S I have a pick up.

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
Tyre pressures also seem to be a case of personal choice, anything between 26 and 32 psi

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
Any more thoughts?
Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
Toyos are pretty good in all fairness, especially if you have the wider wheels. My experience is they can be a bit bouncy on standard wheels but grip the road better than the 145. Kumho were fab, so were firestones previously. Can you fit 165 on them?
Maybe better still.

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
My first minor had 165's on standard rims, so stupidly when it came to changing my tyres I bought the same size as was already on there.
Then I drove a minor with 145's on ... sigh!
165's are sloppy in the corners & make the steering MUCH heavier - don't go there ;)

Tried bull motif today, they are advertising in Minor Matters Toyo's at £37.99 incl VAT.charlie_morris_minor wrote:try giving north hants tyres a call apparently they are meant to be getting some firestones 145 r 14 in.

However they can't do them at that price. Instead they are £46.80 !!
Will I need to buy any valves etc ?
Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
I was quoted £46 FOR Toyos at a local tyre place fitted and balanced, until they realised that they couldn`t get any.I e-mailed Toyo UK and they said they will be getting a shipment in early April.I might wait til then unless I can find an alternative, but I found the receipt for the tyres I have on now ,and I bought them fourteen years ago today!!! They were Goodyear and were very good

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
I used to fit Goodyear Grand Prix, side walls were a bit flexible, probably because I did not run them hard enough.

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
I tried to get a quote from Bull Motif on April 28 for 155-80 R14 Toyos, and they replied that they could not supply. Please note the Toyos have disappeared from Bull Motif's ad in May/June minor matters. I have no problem getting Toyos in france, why not come along to MOT 2012?

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
Good question Roy, I had a look at buying Michelin tyres for my Merc in France, they were significantly more expensive than here

Re: WHICH NEW TYRES
I bought the same rims from ESM and have had them fitted with Nankang 155/80/14 tyres.
They seem to hold the road very well and with low noise.
The other option is The Toyo 310, although I had these on my Metro GTi and found them a little high on road noise.

How rude! I'll have you know we're all quite a bit younger than 60 years old
