Re: Indicator Problem
Have you wired the flasher unit correctly?
Are all the bulbs working?

Re: Indicator Problem
Yeah everything seems to be working ok, both indicators turn on and all the lights work as to does the horn. I did a straight swap for the flasher unit so I think I didnt get it wrong. Is it possible the flasher unit is new but faulty?
Re: Indicator Problem
If it's the tin can type of flasher unit - cylindrical or cuboid - there's a good chance of a new one either being faulty or wrongly rated. Does it say "2x21W" or "2x21W + 5W" on it, or something else? The ones that have "+5W" on them are intended for systems with side repeaters. For negative earth cars, I now fit ones like this from Autosparks. Things have got so bad with cheapo imported tin can units that Vehicle Wiring Products have knocked up a little test rig they'll check each unit with while you're in the shop. One of the few advantages of living near Ilkeston.

Re: Indicator Problem
It is a cylindrical unit but I cant remember what it has written on it. I will have a look come the weekend. Its still a positive earth car. If it was faulty would the light still come on like I am seeing though?
Re: Indicator Problem
Yes - it's a common way for them to fail. My guess is that it's intended to have a side repeater connected. Some will still work OK without, some won't. Anything that reduces the current taken by the indicators, such as a poor lampholder connection or a poor earth may make it more likely stay on rather than flash.

Re: Indicator Problem
The horn is on a different fuse so has no connection with the indicators.
Disconnect the green and green/brown wires from the flasher unit and connect them together, then operate the indicator switch. The indicators left or right should operate without flashing. If they do the same with the green connected to the B terminal and the green/brown connected to the L terminal then you have a faulty flasher unit.
What year car is it?

It's a 4 door morris minor 1000 1967.
It was a garage find and has been sitting there for about 10 years! Has under 20,000 on the clock.
