Right I've been told that I can use an Marina or Ital engine and running gear....proving difficult to find.
What about an Allegro or another flavour or 1275 A-Series engine? :-? :-? :-?

Nope. The allegro, metro, mini etc are all transverse and would take far to much engineering to make fit. Best to find an in-line engine from a Marina or Ital.

thanks

Thanks for that Cam....I was wondering while all these other a-series engines where being over looked!

Dont overlook the Midget engine but even harder to find. There is a rebuilt Ital engine on Ebay at the moment but its in Liverpool if thats any good.

I saw that on ebay, but it's a bit far for me to travel. Also seemed expensive

If his claims are true then I would say this is a good price. the recondition ed parts such as rings, bearings etc could well add up to that then there is machining, the assembly time/labour and base engine purchace costs to take into account.....

If you cant find the parts, you might like to consider a whole car, itals are pretty cheap even as runners. Might be an option for you? I have seen running cars for 100pounds in classic car mags.
