Indicator Warning Light

Hi, I am thinking of using the blocked oil filter warning light as my flasher warning light. I would only do this if I can still retain it,s original use.
Has anyone done this, it is possible?
It appears to be a switched earth bulb, so my idea would be to use a relay that, when energised via the P terminal on the flasher unit, it provides an earth feed to the bulb.
My car is a '71 Traveller with neg earth.
As will be apparent, I am no auto electrition but (in my own mind) a reasonably competent amateur.
So what does anyone think?

I have used the blocked filter light for my trailer indicator warning light as the filter has been converted to a canister with no warning light connection. Just connect the spade terminal from the filter to the P terminal on the flasher unit.
The orange warning light is not easy to see, especially when you are busy negotiating road junctions and you are better off with the green light - unless your green light has broken. Certainly not worth the effort of messing around with relays

Thank you Mike for your quick response. The reason that I was thinking of a relay was that the wiring diagram for the filter light seems to show that it is a switched earth and the feed from the P terminal is live. Therefore I assumed that I would have to provide an earth. Your way seems so simple, I will give it a try.
Thanks again.

Boy do I feel an idiot!!!! Worrying about what is the best way to wire this up and to retain the original, only to find that my car never had an original. Bulb holder just blanked off. Therefore it was a dead easy mod.
Thanks for your help.
