Great, it looks like the plunger for one of my door pillar switches has fallen inside the A post. What can I do to retrieve it? There doesn't appear to be any access - also where does the wire exit to join to the main loom? :(

If you take out the glovebox you will see a space that goes down behind the A post. You can usually just about get a hand down far enough to grab the plunger but if not the wire may lead up to behind the glove box so you can trace it and pull it out. You most probably will have to replace the switch if it's broken.

When the bottom of the A post rusts away you can gain access to the light switch :)

It's well worth checking out the range of pillar light-switches that are available from your local auto-electrician's supply shop ... they have some really beefy ones these days that have a plate on the outside which will prevent it ever falling down the back again.

I suspect your old switch is now lost in amongst the crud at the bottom of your A-Post ... last time I cut the bottom off one of mine I found a nearly full cigarette lighter - SO glad that I decided to cut it open rather than patch it ... kaboom anyone?
