Sprite 1098 engine rebuild questions

Post by mowogg »

I am rebuilding my first engine at the moment - a low mileage 10CC engine.

I notice the original spec for the 12G295 head was double valve springs? I have the head, but without the double valve springs, but I do have new standard minor springs which I was planning to fit -would these be acceptable, as I do not plan to do lots of high revving.

I have the standard sprite Cam or a good second hand 266 to choose from -would I be best keeping this standard or is the 266?

My intention is to fit this with a MG metro inlet/HIF 38 carb, initially on a standard minor exhaust

Thanks

Single springs and the 266 cam will be fine. The 266 has slightly higher lift - so will compress the springs more anyway. But of course - the engine will go a LOT better with a 940 head.........
