Got a new starter switch for Jethro as the old one keeps jamming on and is covered in rust and old paint.
Is it a simple operation to remove and replace the switch as it is not covered in the workshop manual?
Thanks Folks
Yes it is a pull start switch.
I always disconnect the battery before working on the electrics, have had too many bangs and flashes in the past.
Even caught my Midget loom alight many years ago fitting an alarm!
The hardest part will be getting at the securing nut -and fixing the pull cable... Electrically it couldn't be easier..... have you tried spraying the existing switch (and the pull knob assy) with copious floods of WD 40 ???
There is a cable from the knob on the dashboard, which connects to the switch via a short tube with a grub screw at each end. The mounting bracket for the end of the cable is held to the switch by a nut, and the bulkhead is sandwiched between the switch and the bracket. Shine a torch up behind the pull knob, and all should be obvious. Removal of the glove box greatly aids access
