Hi Guys ive just joined today as a real idea at what i need to do...

Im planning on restoring a morris minor providing i find one  being 22 i really don't remember the car being here at home but it was my late granddad's pride and joy, who sadly passed away peacefully earlier this week, im determined to make him proud in restoring one... basically im after a rough cost of a restore, help on paint codes and names, interior help and maybe knowledge of the car he had and if its still going or that it would be available to purchase its i.d?

Im a qualified mechanical technician so the labour isnt a problem but the knowledge of the car is... as you can imagine i know injection to carb and so on  i hope someone can help or point me in the right directions, dont worry tho guys im not forgetting the basics of mechanics is the same... suck squeeze bang blow for example haha

GDE 254D was the plate if anyone has knowledge of her?

Regards
Wyn

You might want to edit your profile to add your location -- it's very helpful when answering questions like this. If you're in the UK there will be plenty of moggies, but rust is an issue -- the biggest issue. If you're where I am (California -- US) there aren't nearly as many around -- but rust is almost a non-issue. Still, there always seem to be a few on offer within a reasonable distance of where I live. There are very good, friendly people on this forum that will be able to answer virtually any question quickly and well, so just keep asking!

Hi Wyn

Welcome to the Forum

Check this thread for info on cars for sale etc. it should help get you started :D

http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43309

As for the car you mentioned, here's the info from the DVLC website:

Date of Liability 01 02 1997
Date of First Registration 07 10 1966
Year of Manufacture 1966
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1098cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour BLUE
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available

Would seem the car has been off the road since '97 but that may mean that it is being restored. Keep checking the ads as they do sometimes come up.

Good hunting

Our Branch Rally is held on May 20th in the grounds of The National History Museum, St. Fagans Cardiff We are hopefull that we can get 100 Morris's there pluss other marques.
Look forward to catching up with you.

it was mentioned today at the funeral of a few blue ones in the area hidden away, so hopefully i will get lucky... i would rather take his original car back in to our possession but if i cant get hold of it or get it then i will just have to source one similar, i recall the police car at the county run i did it last year in my focus rs, always been a fan of the run as it passes through my home village of Eglwyswrw, i will certainly make myself known to you guys as i would be so grateful of every ounce of help given!
