brake pipe & union sizes

Replacing a rear brake cylinder the other day, I only just managed to get away with freeing the union on the pipe without damaging the pipe.
Made me realise I needed to be able to make up a new pipe if needed in future.
I have ordered a Brake pipe flaring tool kit.
My questions are:
What size pipe should I keep in stock
Which unions are needed BSF or UNF ( I gather that the front bridge pipe have UNF unions)

Tubing size is 3/16" OD, threads are British, I forget if they're BSW or BSF, but methinks BSW, would have to check to be sure.
Take the old cylinder w/you when you go to get fittings.

Both 3/8"BSF and 3/8"UNF fittings on the Minor. Use Kunifer pipe - NOT copper pipe !

ChrisEdgar - Hope you don't mind me adding to this post?
A friend has offered to make me a set of Kunifer brake pipes but I don't have a complete set to give him as a pattern. Does anyone know the lengths of each pipe for a full set? Thanks

The only thing you need to check is are your fittings double or single flare as there is some variation in this (or perhaps non standard fittings may have been fitted).
The numbers after are the overall length in inches eg SPN 52 = 3/8" bsf both ends, 52" overall pipe length.

OK, got it now methinks...
BSF for all unions except front bridge pipe which are UNF
As for the pipe...yes Roy, I will buy Kunifer. Tougher than pure copper.

I suspect pipe A may be bsf one end - and unf the other -at the T piece. Anyone confirm ?

I think both ends are BSF. See below. This was the diagram that came with the brake servo fitting kit.[frame]

hi, regarding the comment made about copper brake pipes , can anyone tell me what the problem is with them.My whole system is done with them and i thought this was a bonus over the old style pipes

Copper pipe work hardens and cracks..... even the rolling of the end shape can precipitate the work hardening. Shortly after I got my car - I tugged a copper pipe and it just came away in my hand......... Kunifer is slightly harder to work with - but it's rot proof and doesn't work harden!
