I've been fitting new front and rear headling in my Traveller today. I bought it without either fitted so I'm relying on memory and it's 7 or 8 years since I had my last Traveller.

I've found the piece of trim that needs covering and then installing at the back of the rear headlining but I'm blowed if I can remember what goes on in the middle where the front meets the back. I've got a memory of a varnished capping strip and do I recall correctly that there is a step in the levels?

Anyweay if anybody has any photos of that area it would be a great help. I've looked through my old photos but for some reason I never thought the area worth photographing

I don't have a picture but there is a shaped piece of wood that is then covered with headlining material; and screwed to the roof.

Hi, beg, steal or borrow a copy of 'Practical Classics' Traveller Restoration.
I found it unbelievably helpful especially the headlining fitting. (I lost count of the number of times I washed my hands when fitting).

I've got this far but it was what to do with the join:


I had a capping piece for the rear but nothing else Minor width so I guess it's long gone. Looks like I'd better cut myself a piece of bendy wood and cover it with the strip of material that came with the headlining. With that and the varnished trim back on the B posts and above the rear windows I'm done. Not my favourite job but it does look a lot better in there

Sounds like the PC Traveller restoration book would have been useful on more than one occasion. I'll hunt around.

Hllo Andy,

the capping piece is actually an 'L' section and. obviously follows the curve of the roof. It will be easier to make it out of two pieces cut to shape and fixed together.

Great. Thanks Alec. That rings a bell now that you mention it. I had a feeling that the front headlining was at a sightly different level to the rear. The L section would explain it.
