Hi all, I have a dilemma!! I know that the chassis is a pickup chassis (that's the only bit I'm sure of!! ) but how do I know about the cab - there is no VIN plate on the door pillar. In fact I can't see any numbers anywhere!! The floor is like a patchwork quilt with enough body filler to patch up the Titanic. Is there any thing I can look for or measure that only a pickup cab would have??. im trying to upload some pictures but think the files are to big . thanks for your help.

Jallen try using paintbox to reduce the images to 600 pixels, perfect transmission size. Look forward to seeing them.

the vans and pickups all had chassises and the cabs are the same only the rear portion is different ..
one being a van the other a pickup
only a vin plate will tell you for sure
what is it on your V5 ???
if it is a cut down van rear then the top of the rear sides will be a giveaway ,
but i have see some that have been very well done and it is hard to tell even from that
pictures of the rear sides and side tops will be good

As above really pickups and Vans are basically the same, except for just a different bolt on rear end. They should not be confused with being traveller variants, travellers do not have separate chassis's

If you have a separate chassis your car definately started life as a van/pickup or chassis cab.

Chassis/Vin plates are normally on the left hand side bulkhead as per normal saloons etc on earlier LCV's or if yours is like mine 1971 it would have had a chassis plate pop rivetted to the passender door card. What year is your car? If yours is missing check your V5C, it'll say MAU5 for a series 5 pickup, MAV5 for a series 5 van, MAQ5 for chassis cab, if it says MAE5 or similar it was a GPO van.

What does the first 4 letters of your chassis number say on your V5C.

Failing that you should have a small body number plate under the bonnet top right above the fuel pump, what does that say. Those numbers I havent got a clue what they mean, but Im sure chris of PMMOC will know. He'll be around soon.

that number on the bulkhead above the fuel pump is the Nuffield pressing number Steve, but I don't think there's a DVLA interest in it. They tend to go with the chassis number. But I stand to be corrected...

Hi all. thanks so much for the replies, I have sent the V5 log book off to change to a new keeper, [frame][/frame]. yay i can do this computer thing.. photos!! [frame][/frame] as you can see it looks like it's been messed around with lots [frame][/frame]they say a picture tells a thousand words!!so have 2 thousand [frame][/frame] i've now managed to free the cab from the chassis, judging by the amount of rust on the floor i think getting the cab off the chassis was the easy job!! . pic of my dolly to fit the cab on..this is the only thing that wont rust!! [frame][/frame], some of these photos and problems will be very familiar(David . love the articles by the way, hope i can do mine as nice as yours )[frame][/frame]. I'll try to keep a picture log going. now need some weetabix to lift the cab

From the photos, it looks like an lcv cab,
albeit bodged!

don't be put off, there's more than enough to go with there. The end result is all that matters, the journey getting there is mere stages. your goal is a Morris minor pickup, with a real cult following.

Well the cab is now off the chassis.. and guess what??....yeah more rust!! and what looks like a new chassis is req [frame][/frame] someones been at it with a grinder..[frame][/frame]. front legs[frame][/frame]... anyone know a good welder

Hello, that looks fairly standard for LCV chassis repairs. Certainly nothing to worry about, looks fairly straight forward to repair. Where abouts are you in the UK and we may be able to help find someone who can repair the chassis for you.

young preservationist of the year, kevin colley, who is doing the welding on mine.

i can certainly vouch for him both as a skilled individual, but also asa very nice, reliable person.

he has two travelers, and has started KGC engineering, his own company. he is based in manchester, but is mobile -- where ARE YOU BASed?.

let me knowf touYOU (on anyone else by that matter) need any more information/pictures. we are intending to have Misty (my moggie) on the young owners stand on branch avenue at national, so you will be able to see the quality of work there

HELP!!!....Hi all. does anyone know where i can get a blown up diagram of how the cab floor sections go??

Although the picture shows the panels as one, the cills and both floor panels, each side of the transmission tunnel are available seperately same goes for the side boxing panels.

Well at last work has started!! The engine bay has now been striped of paint.[frame][/frame] Almost done[frame][/frame]....

Now the chopping [frame][/frame]what a mess[frame][/frame] and some more for the scrap man[frame][/frame]...

started to strip the chassis down[frame][/frame]. speaking about my chassis, once its rubbed down and the welding done i will need to paint it... anyone got any good suggestions [frame][/frame]the cuts along and across the chassis are not done by me!!!.. it was done by some butcher who had the car before
