convertible hood

please can anyone advise me on how to remove the hood and just leave the frame on the car as i have a small tear and i want to get it repaired thanks

The header rail at the front is bolted to the metal frame, so is the rail at the rear, it's bolted to the body.
But
I don't think you can unbolt the front one (I can't remember how it fastened on when I changed my hood). You can take a look, but you may end up having to pull all the nails out under the cover strip
It may be simpler to use a glue patch with the hood on the car or it may become a big job, removing and refitting the hood

Hi, there are no bolts on my 1961 ragtop, rear wooden section is screwed to the bodywork with self tapping type screws, front wooden section is fixed with standard wood screws to the frame with several nails that tidy up and finish the fit of the hood. Hood could be removed by just removing the rear self tappers, two bolts on the frame hinges and two wing bolts that hold the front of the hood to the car. I would not consider removing the hood from the frame as would be a nightmare to re-fit, if you can sort it while on the car would do so, if you need to take it off I would leave it on the frame and would not disturb the front/rear wooden sections.

many thanks welsh rat good thinking think i will take the whole frame off as it is and get it repaired.
