Series II glove box compartments.

Post by JOWETTJAVELIN »

Hi, anyone know what the glove box compartments in a Series II are made of?

If it's asbestos then I'm screwed... :(

Cardboardy type stuff.

The only asbestos is underneath the car (below the passenger feet) hidden in the heat shield.

thank heavens for that... had to take one out to get to the wiper linkage and a load of dust came off it which I breathed in. Couldn't be entirely sure whether it was card or asbestos though.

Thanks.

Went through the same feeling when I happened to pull out some of the old hessian type sound proofing behind the dash. Dust everywhere! I was told if it catches fire... it's not asbestos, so if the part is scrap and it'll burn you are ok.

card or asbestos
It's the flock that the inside surface was coated with all those years ago.
