i hope to be there if the weather's nice!

not that i'm a garage-queen, (far from it!) but if i'm going to do a 250 mile round trip, i don't want to spend it sat in my car hiding from the rain!

Just a quick reminder that this event is tomorrow.

Hope to see lots of lovely Minors there.

Brooklands visit

Just returned after a great visit to the Austin/Morris day at Brooklands in Surrey. The selection of Minors was impressive and they looked resplendent in the sushine but I couldn't find a ''million'' amongst them. However, there were several other marques which made it a worthwhile trip.

Had a great day at Brooklands myself. Bluey performed flawlessly, 240 miles, not a beat skipped, and not a drop of oil used!

Good turn out of young members:

Oh, I did pass a Brown (?) van on the M40. It was on the hard shoulder. I feel really bad for not stopping, but he did wave as if to say 'carry on we're fine'. Can't help but regret not pulling over just in case i could have helped.

If you're on here, let me know you're ok!

Hi,
er it was me on the M40! I had just found out how far you can travel at a steady 70ish with no oil in the gearbox before it started to sieze... :( The sound effects were pretty horrible! The oil droplets onthe back doors, which I thought was engine oil turned out to be the clue to a gearbox leak...
Yes there wasn't much you could have done really, we were just brewing up a nice cup of tea whilst waiting for recovery.
Amazingly I put some oil in it yesterday and it drove home last night nice and quietly. Sort of wounded but not dead, so it may manage a few days of local running about before I get chance to swap the gearbox over.
It was still a really good day out :D

Nice to see that @BrooklandsMuseu Tweeted a link to the Young Members on their own Facebook page. Over 1,800 people attended on the day. Not a bad turn out.

It did occur to me that it could have been you Iain. Sorry to hear of your troubles, I've had a gearbox run dry myself, it didn't take long for it to get very loud in all gears!

I didn't even have an oil can in the boot (haven't needed to since i rebuilt the engine!) so couldn't have even offered you a top-up! It was as i passed that i thought you might have just run out of petrol, and if that was the case, i had a gallon in the boot that could have got you on your way.
