Hi Everyone
I have a knocking noisy from my nearside front suspension, only occurs when hitting a pothole or going over rough surfaces.
So far I have renewed:
Top and Bottom Trunnions (both sides)
Wheel bearings (both sides)
Track Rod ends (both sides)
Eyebolts and bushes (both sides)
Tie bars and bushes (both sides)
Anyone any Idea what the cause of the knocking could be its getting to me now as I use the car as my daily.
Thanks

This is usually loose damper bolts - check them urgently - but don't snap them. Have you uprated the dampers by draining off the horrible old oil - and refilling with SAE 40 ?? Did you fit polyurethane bushes in the top trunnion where it connects to the damper arm? And - are both the bump stop and the rebound stop present ??

Also check that the ping for the top trunnion is seated firmly in the damper arm. With the upright disconnected, did you check that there was no play in the damper arm? Do you have standard drum brakes or discs? If the latter, then do they have the little adapters for the bearings? These can also wear slightly, and may cause a knocking - as would loose callipers.

i had the same problem on my pick up, it turned out that the lower trunnion was about 1mm smaller than its surroundings so would slop back and forth and make a bad clunking noise it also did it if you slammed on the brakes on a flat surface. the solution was to fit a shim washer at either side of the lower trunnion bushes. and now there is no more noise.
