my 1969 Austin 8cwt has been hand painted not too badly but in the wrong colour. I really want to get it back to its original colour.
Can any one tell me what colour code/name this is...no bad throw away comments thank you

LCVs were often delivered in primer for painting in company livery so it might not be a Morris colour. There is a list of colours on http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk Tech. Info

Might be clipper blue or persian blue. As said LCVs could have been painted in any colour once they were supplied

Looks very close to Clipper Blue but - as mentioned in an earlier post - it could be anything according to the original owners spec. Clipper Blue was almost exclusively a very late 50's/very early 60's original colour and does not appear to have been used on LCV's. Not sure about Persian Blue - it was a late 60's LCV colour but not sure how close it was to Clipper Blue. Good hunting though :D

Think I'd go for clipper blue. It's one of my favourite colours - looks just the part on a Minor. :D

Looks like persian blue - there's some photos of a persian blue pick up in this thread: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... e&start=15

Paint code: BU39

Sorry Lou I agree with the others it really looks like Clipper Blue. Persian is slightly darker.

Well it looks slightly darker than clipper to me Lou. Problem is that paint fades over time and it's difficult to tell an exact shade from a photo. It might not be either colour if a non standard colour was used so best thing to do if a perfect match is needed is to take it to a place which mixes up auto paint to order.

Having seen the Persian Blue pick up on the other thread the two colours look very close indeed. If it's an LCV it's more likely to be Persian blue as a standard colour. As has been said, there are fade issues to deal with. Has anyone ever taken photo's of the two colours side by side? Either way, what's important is to paint it in a colour you are happy with. :D

Totolly agree, unless you are putting the car back to original factory condition then it's up to the owner what colour the car is painted :D

Certainly looks Persian blue to me, although it is very difficult to be sure from a picture. Also a really nice colour for a van IMHO!

I agree that you should paint the colour that you want as you will be the one to own and drive the car. However, if in any doubt, then original is always a good choice.

If its a late Austin LCV it will certainly be Persian Blue, which was an LCV only colour towards the end of production ('67 onwards or somethign like). Clipper blue was discontinued in the early sixties.
