Help required in finding the purpose and livery of my 1968 maroon Morris traveller
Records show that it served with Suffolk Police Authority until 1972. It had Factory Fitted Zipped Headliner, Heavy Duty Battery, Diaphram Front Seat, Alternator and even a Fresh Air Heater. It was not used for panda work having left the Factory in Maroon Colour.
I have had no response from Suffolk Police or N.A.R.P.O. so any information would be useful[frame]Image[/frame]

Hi Rubyf. I have a 1968 Cardiff/South Wales panda. I managed to find a photograph of the line up taken when Cardiff City Police Force first took delivery of them. I use this photgraph as a display on my car. While attending the NEC last November, I met another lady police officer who told me a little bit more on the history of these cars. I thought that all 35 Morris pandas baught by the Cardiff Police Force were all blue and white painted but it now appears that Cardiff kept a few Morris's in other colours. Like your burgundy Traveller they were used as CID cars. Maybe your Traveller was one used by the Met. If you can get intouch with Police Car UK or PVEC they might be more helpfull with info.
good Luck.
Raymond

Our ex-police traveller started life as a sergeants car, so that could be a possibility. The zips were usually put in for access to electrics for a roof blue light/box. Do you have a rubber grommet in the roof to seal a hole?

Not on mine. I do have a small square metel plate welded there but I redrilled it so to replace the box.

It was the same on our Met Panda (a total of 6 holes for light box, wiring and aerial) but for our traveller they just stuck in a rubber bung because the box was mounted on the aluminium roof section.
