After only 17 years and 3 months!

Post by oliver-morrisminor »

It's finally happened!

The old Tourer is registered.

After so many years of work on and off, More off then On,
my Tourer is now registered.

On the way back home I did have problem with the brakes binding up,

I could not drive in 4th gear and even 3rd was a struggle, and when I made it home and stopped to open the gates, smoke was eminating from my wheels!

A good friend of mine suggested a few things but he thought the main cause could be
the adjustment rod into the master cylinder was too long and not allowing the fluid back
into the reseviour. So I adjusted it shorter, and by George he was right!
Good on you Neville! (AGAIN!)
I had visions of stripped down brakes and wheel cylinders being relined etc etc .

It feels better each time I drive it.

Look out (Postponed) Australia Day Show!

Congratulations.
Binding brakes is often the result of not slakening the handbrake fully before adjusting the rear brakes or adjusting the handbrake before the rear brakes. Make sure that there is free movement at the top of the pedal when all the brakes are adjusted

Well done and congrats after such a long time!

Car looks fabulous, lovely colour and a great resto job by the looks of it. I like it very much - a credit to you, except for the rear wing spats, why do people fit them? The look doesn't really suit the Minor and I'd imagine they would make cleaning mud out of the rear wheelarches and inside of the rear wings difficult, thus becoming a rust trap. Rain will dry out faster without them.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Thnks every body for the comments, yes I am proud and eager to do some driving!

The wheel spats divide people into two camps, LOVE and HATE with nothing in between.
I myself really like them, but some day in the future I may want to take them off,
it will take no longer than 10 seconds on each one, and leave no damage to the guard.

And on the point of driving in mud, well I have no intention of driveing in any on purpose,
and rain, yes we have had a lot, but remember this is Queensland Australia, where in
my home office the temperature is currently 28.4 deg C according to my wall clock/thermometre.
So water does dry off quite quickly.

Thanks again guys for the comments.
