OK, that does it! Leave the Traveller (1098) over 10 days and she is a pig to start! So, Electronic Ignition! Not whys and wherefores or even fitting at this stage! I am seeking recommendations of make please (that will not break the bank!) Also I notice "fitting kit" ?? and do they fit any dizzy? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Can't see that you should be blaming the points ignition for this - more likely to be battery discharging. But if you must -good reports from Accuspark and Simonbbc. Both will supply either a kit for your dizzy or a complete new dizzy ready fitted. Just search ebay. That may be the better option - give you an unworn unit with a working vacuum advance. You can upgrade to a 45D too - and that let's you keep your old dizzy complete as a ready to use spare for when the electronics let you down on a dark and stormy night......... Just be sure to carry the spare in the car at all times.....

I have the accu-spark electronic ignition kits that are available on fleabay fitted on all three of my cars . They take a few minutes to fit and then there is no more chance of points closing up which always seemed to happen on dark wet nights in the middle of nowhere! . One of my cars has done just over 20,000 trouble free miles with one fitted.

With the kits it's very simple to remove the points and condenser (which causes most of the problems) and fit the 'electronic' kit, it's a simple DIY job for anyone even with limited experience so a distributor exchange isn't really required unless yours is very badly worn.

However, I would factor in the cost of a 'sports' coil' as well as a normal coil may well break down using the electronic ignition kits (although some members may well say that they don't have a problem)

Gentlemen! Thank you. I am about to push the boat out and order the full Monty on e-bay....... A fully fitted Accu-spark Dizzy. I will keep my old Dizzy as spare for emergencies! Or more likely be 'stolen' by my son for his '65 Saloon, lol. Can you please give me a little more detail about this 'sports' coil? Have many standard coils failed via electronic ignition?

Don't go anywhere near a 'sports' coil - it's completely unnecessary -stick with a good old original coil. Just make sure the connections are tight and clean.

Ive not fitted one yet, but on investigation found a very nice video on You tube, just type in accuspark electronic ignition.
