Hi
I have a 53 split screen two door and I would like some help on how to get the exterior door handles off (to replace them with shiny new ones).
I have undone them and they are totally free but I can't remove them because of the window channel. Please don't tell me that I have to dismantle the top of the doors? (unless I HAVE to, of course)
Sorry if this has already been discussed and sorry if it is just me and I am doing it wrong, but you could save me a lot of time (and grazed knuckles) if you could help.
Thanks
Steve B

Re: Removing exterior door handles.
Hi Steve,
Sorry to say it, but you're right. I changed the locks on my 69 Traveller last year and had to undo the door top and release the window channel that's in the way. I did manage to jiggle the offending bit out of the way without taking the glass out. Hope this helps, even though it's not the answer you were looking for.
Cheers,
Phil

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the reply, as you say, not the answer i was hoping for, but now at least when I have done it I am not likely to kick myself when someone says "you didn't have to do that you can just ........"
So you have helped me a lot, thank you very much!!
