HI,
IM QUITE NEW TO THE FORUM AND JOINED AS PLANNING TO BUY A MOGGY. MY FIRST EXPERIANCE DID NOT GO TO PLAN HOWEVER, I TOOK A SECOND CHANCE OFFER ON PFC 788J FROM E-BAY WITH THE CAR DESCRIBED AS "A couple of things will need doing to make her perfecta few small blimps on the paint work very minor". WHAT I FOUND WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR RUSTED THROUGH, THE REAR DOOT LID BADLY RUSTED IN THE INSIDE, THE REAR BOX SECTION BY THE LEAF SPRINGS ROTTEN AND MUCH MORE THAN A FEW BLIMPS IN THE PAINT! I HAVE SEEN THE ORIGIONAL ADVERT FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO DESCRIBED IT FAIRLY AS "Rust in all the usual places".
MY POINT IN ALL OF THIS RAMBLING IS THAT ANYONE BUYING THIS CAR IN THE FUTURE SHOULD LOOK VERY HARD AT THE CAR IN ITS PRESENT STATE.

I may be missing something here, but was the supposition that a "near perfect" morris minor could be had for less than £1000?

Sorry to hear of your position Paul. I have edited part of your post as this isn't the appropriate place for complaints about a specific ebay seller - you should raise these with ebay.

As the problems listed would have been evident when viewing it sounds as though you did not inspect the car before paying a deposit? Unfortunately we have had quite a few posts here in the past from first time Minor buyers who have ended up with a car that was not as described. There is a 'sticky' here advising anyone thinking of buying a Minor that they must thoroughly inspect the car before purchase and if they don't know what to look for to take someone with them who does: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37815 This advice applies to any vehicle, not just Minors, regardless of who the seller is or where the car is advertised - here, ebay, private seller or trader. Never assume that just because a car looks nice, or is described as such, that it is!

Take the car back and demand money back. Can you post up a link to the ebay sale ? And a 'second chance' offer should have been a warning to you - that someone else had rejected the car! Although -I must admit, that's how I bought my TR7 - and it was fine ! A car sold has to be in good roadworthy condition unless sold as 'spares and repairs'. Did it come with an MOT? Doors of course are not safety related - but the chassis rail rust would be dangerous.

He didn't actually buy the car, he paid a deposit.

Walk away..... I don't see it any recent ebay sales of Minors?? And anyway - why pay a deposit??? Were there so many others clammering to buy the car that it was necessary to reserve it??
