Brake light switch

Post by David Sharp »

Am I just unlucky or is there a problem with brake light switches?

I use my Minor regularly all year round but have had 5 switches fail in the last 6yrs.and now the current item needs replacing too.All have been purchased from various well-known suppliers who have assured me that they are top quality items but 12mths.seems a very short life to me!

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,David.

Yes - the modern switches don't seem to last any time at all. Try for a good old one ! I'm sure someone said landRover switches fit -and last.

Hi there,

I put a switch from a Volkswagen Golf Mk I in my MG Midget MK III which has the same switch as a Moggy. No problems ever since. :D

If you can't find a NOS one you can fit a cheap relay that will extend the life of the repro.
