Hi, new member making first post.

Just purchased 1098 Minor in exc condition but needs motor rebuild because of bad score caused by broken circlip.

Is +60 now so I believe should not be rebored?
Would need to be sleeved then bored which is expensive?

I have been offered a 1098 Mini block. Is it correct this cannot be used to rebuild a RWD 1098 motor?

Simple questions, hope you can help so I don't go down the wrong path.

Thanks, Keith

Correct - you can use the cam/timing gear/pistons + rods/head etc etc - but not the block or crank. There are oversize pistons out there for the 1098 engine - but not cheap......

Might be an idea to put an ad in the 'wanted' section for a 1098 block. You could get that bored to +60 and use all the innards of your old engine, if all the bits are still usable.

Or use the pistons from the Mini engine in another block - if they are in good condition. Usually plenty of Minor 1098 engines around !

Not in Oz where the OP resides.

I'm not a mind reader -he doesn't give any location. :-? But I do believe the oversize 1098 pistons come from Oz anyway!
