Strange Lights

Post by Boomlander »

Hi Folks,
Not sure where the odd running lights have come from on Jethro's roof pillars. You can just make one of them out in the photo, white front and red back and about 2" in size.
Haven't decided yet if I am going to keep them or not, any opinions?
Thanks. :-?[frame]Image[/frame]

Back in the 1960s and early 70's that type of light was commonly available for use as either a parking light or marker lights on the sides of trailers. Haven't seen any around for quite a few years.

I quite like these - an interesting period accessory :)

I have one and it has a brown bakelite 'clip on' to fit over the top [side?] of the window then close the window to secure. Have never sorted out how to wire it for use. White to the front and red lens to the rear.

I agree with Stag36587. They are a period accessory and they look just right on there. Keep them.

As long as the wires or connectors in the socket cannot touch metal when socket is mounted it just needs a live and earth as i think the plug can go in either way

Thanks Ian.

Oh I hadn't realised, does the connector/plug go into the two separate holes when not in use?

I would say the other two holes are for mounting screws as the lamp would be placed in glove box or parcel tray they do seem over the top for mounting that socket though

Any chance of a closer look? I'm not sure they are the same after all? Different shape or is it just the positioning?

Chrissie, you need either a pair of croc. clips to connect the lamp straight to the battery or a cigar lighter socket hidden under the dash from which you can run your camping accessories.

OK --- so how do you switch it off? Just unplug it. So could it be those two other holes are for the 'off position''?
