Be quick - there are two on ebay right now and cheap too! I haven't seen any for ages. But just be aware that they can sometimes wear on the keyway, and then they are worse than useless......

Does the 1275 damper fit the 1098 engine?

I didn't realise they were that rare or uncommon? I just got one from my local mini specialist.

Yes!! Reading the Bible, His Wizardness states that the damper needs to be tuned to the particular engine....But no-one ever told BMC that! A case of anything better than nothing, I guess!

The same damper was fitted to all the later Mini engines - 998 or 1275. No 'tuning' required. The early 1098 East West engines were all fitted with an earlier and arguably better two-part damper, but BMC never fitted the damper to the North South engines - miserable bu99ers....... They are no longer available new - good second hand ones are normally hard to find..... Are you sure you have a 'damper' Alex - and not just a steel pulley?
