Wind screen washer pump

What are the odds that the 1967 push button pump works? Tried it and then found that the check valve is missing. I need to find a check valve and probably flush the lines, and I'd like to keep it original, but if the pumps don't last I'll just install and electric pump and reservoir.

They last really well - as far as I know mine is original - so 47 years old now and still works well. My non-return valve is in the pick-up pipe in the bottle. There is also a little filter - it can become clogged with sludge - beware - the bottle may contain Legionella (water been festering in warm environment) - so handle with care........

I replaced the wash bottle on mine last year. Had to bin the brand new check valve as it didn't work and re-fitted the original valve. Those original pumps last a long time. There's a better chance that the old pump works than a new repro-rubbish replacement.
