Late and Early?

Dear all, I'm after a new radiator, and was looking at the Moss Euro website - they have an 'early' and a 'late', a big price difference! Now the early one has a drain tap, which is what I want, and is a lot cheaper! But would it fit a 71 saloon? I know earlier ones ere taller - but I'm not sure if that is what they mean?

Hmnn... might have to ring 'em

Best ring them, no-one else seems to do the early radiators and that seems an especially competitive price, which is not usual for Moss!

Very interested to hear what they say, provided you can speak to some-one who knows. I have had very bad experience in dealing with Moss over the phone regarding inexperienced and incorrect advice!

Since Moss don't deal with Series MM parts I would assume that an early rad is for a Series 2 with the tall header tank and a late rad is for a M1000. Am I correct?
I have not got access to my catalogue at the moment

early may have the heater return hose connection into the bottom of the rad, unlike going into the bottom hose like 'later' cars.

so the difference could well be if it's got the fitting at the bottom of the rad or not (along with the big or little header tank).
