It's just struck me as a professional musician that one of the few times I'm completely without music is when I'm driving Hebe. (then I'm normally singing or whatever)

So, as most of us will be doing some driving in our mogs this weeked (:D ) I thought it would be a good chance to see how many of us have music in our mogs, and how many of us actually even listen to music while we work on the car!

I found myself dragging my laptop complete with internet connection outside the other day while I was working on Hebe just so I had music to keep me company!

Mines had 4 different radios since ive had it..... 2 of which didn't work, and one had an analogue tuner (the signal was poor so it was awkward to change stations) so I now have a £10 one from a scrapped metro.....

There's still a Philips period radio in my saloon, still positive earth, (all transistor it states but takes about 5 minutes to warm up and valves can be seen glowing through the ventilation slots ) Reception is pretty dire as well.
Traveller has a modern c.d. receiver.
Must have loud music when working on Mogs, it drowns out the cursing!

After destroying my radio cassette player (in the fire) CW's replaced it with a....

I don't have a radio. But I'm wanting (once I've done everything else) to get one. First Hebe needs new carpets, new door seals, and generally made a bit more comfortable (and warm) for those long trips up to Lincoln I'll have to do in the autumn

I do want to install a modern radio, but along with the Halogen conversion, so I'm guessin I need to put that Alternator in too...

I listen to music/local radio in car (by myself), but at work it's a distraction in an open plan office! Even if it's something I like, by the time it's reached me via all the furniture/reflecting surfaces it's not something I want.

I've an old hitachi radio/casette player in the glovebox - it's really not difficult to fit one, but you'll need the car negative earth unless you're very careful with the radio fittings.

ps I'd recommend Radio Berks - not for the music - that's a personal choice, but their travel news is excellent. The last time the M4 was blocked, they broadcast regular traffic updates all through the night - just for those stuck on the M4!

If you're travelling in the Bracknell Wokingham area - give us a wave! (Green D reg 2 door)

Well mine has halogens and a radio with a dynamo, and I have no problems..... you might have to start on the handle every once in a while!

Well I have a Motorola waiting to go in the car but when working I use a Roberts or at the Rallys an HMV Diplomat.
Nikki what have you done with the size of that picture , it wont fit onto a 19" monitor in one go, I think it needs reducing.

my Morris ( when completed ) will not be fitted with tunes.... I would consider it if i could find a period radio but the odds of that are fairly slim.
as for listening while working in the garage.....IT'S A MUST !

the first thing i do after turining on the lights is load the cd changer and get the place filled with music.....the same holds true when cutting the lawn ... my garden tractor is fitted with AM/FM radio and a sony 10 pack cd changer with 6" marine Blaupunkts and a kickass set of headphones ...it takes about two and a half hours to do the lawn but time flies with the right music on!

i mostly listen to alternative country music but like any music of good quality both lyrics and playing.

What genre of music do you play ?..... anyone caring to answer that question ,,,, please chime in ,,,,,, i'd be curious to know

A radio on the mower... what a country! ;)

I have to have music wherever I go. There's a radio on somewhere downstairs, I'm at the laptop listening to the Small Faces, and there are CDs in the car. Radios throughout the house are tuned to ClassicFM (and the one in Phyllis, too), but *someone* has a habit of retuning them to SAGA - I'm thinking it's Dad... Currently in Phyllis' CD changer are Eva Cassidy, Aled Jones (so's I can sing along in Welsh... ), Nick Drake, Ludovico Einaudi and two Chopin CDs.

Best part about evaluating pc sound cards and pc speakers at work is seeing if we can blow them up with a choice test cd.. Strange how r&d labs always have thick brick walls where rest of company have partition walls

I'm a professional oboist - mainly in contempoary music - the sort that some people find to be a tad dissonant, but I'm also a bit of a singer/songwriter. If you want to hear a bit here's a very rough idea of my style. (It's a rough version of a song I'm hopefully recording tomorrow as a matter of fact!) Given one Change. Forgive the bad tuning!

That's so not fair!
I actually have a plan to install something similar in my car whens she's all done in terms of electrics etc.

I tend to listen to everything from Radio 1 to Radio 4 (but until the cricket makes a prominant presence on Radio 5 not a chance!) so I'm looking for a decent radio which I can install. At the moment it's just money and electrics getting in the way!

I've got a (good by my standards) radio-cassette, of probbaly early 90's era - which does me okay. The plan is, however, as part of the modified where-the-glove-box-would-be-if-my-car-had-had-one (to replace the naff chunk of wood that's in there at the moment) is to have a nicely and appropriately built iPaq container, which will provide music and a GPS.

It contrasts rather sharply with the period Smiths revcounter that's to go next to it....

Incidentally, if anyone knows someone with a Marina Coupe who needs a rev-counter I've got one which will be going spare, 'cos that's what's in there atm.

no rev counter in mine!! ...... fitted a rev limiter instead(apparently you can do full throtle gearchanges... will wait till run in )

sterio is hiden under dash to right of steering wheel, amp is hidden well and little 8" sub in boot so nothing too over the top.

Ipod is going to just clip on or maybe velcro. but all tested and working.

not comment after ending on my side in a ditch in my wifes car as she obmitted to tell me she caved the sump in on a speed bump and damaged the brake bias valve so when someone pulled out infront and had no brakes ending up in the ditch

I didn't even have to drill any holes to put it in..... Although I do need to fabricate a proper speaker bracket, as one of the speakers is not very well fitted at the moment; and I need to shorten the speaker cables. (I do have a terrible tendancy to go "ah, that'll do for now" and then 2 years later I've not got back to the job - however this is all part of the grand new dashboard scheme so hopefully by next year.... oh yes.)....
