Stupid question but now I've got some rear door stays does anybody know the size/type of screws I need to order that will look right, don't want to buy to big and spilt the wood or to small and have the stays come out and damage the wood.

I just picked some chrome headed ones out of my box - but do drill small pilot holes to prevent splitting.

Depends on whether the doors are new or used - as the holes get bigger with age, you need bigger gauge screws to bite, or fill the holes first. I usually use countersunk or raised head, No. 10 x 3/4 inch on the doors (2 holes) and No 8 on the sides (4 holes); but pick what looks right to you.
