Would love to get a Morris Minor but due to accident can only drive an Automatic car. Anybody ever come accross one or know of anyone who has converted one?

Yes, there are many around. They range from "humble" 1300cc marina type conversions to some pretty meaty beasts. I believe that both Ian Allen (Minor Services, Witchford) and Jonathan Heap (JLH) have done them, to name but two. Go for it :D

As doner 1300 Marina automatics are now mega rare, a modern alternative may be more viable. Lets hear what the more 'meaty beasts' are please!

Just out of curiosity, were the Minors outfitted for disabled people to use given an automatic transmission? Seems like the sort of thing that I would want if I were disabled!

No they just had hand controls fitted to operate the clutch etc. I don't think there was ever a factory produced auto Minor.

Withthe popularity of ford 5 speed gearbox conversions, surely theres a modern Ford(?) alternative gearbox that can be used.

Those cars were produced as a government commissioned special range (BMC built them with out of date trim etc..). They went of for special conversion and some conversions had the AP Manumatic clutch system (vaccum driven clutch cylinder). These were fairly rare cars, and due to a bit of snobbery they has been even less of them surviving. They can be spotted by sliding seats and strange but original trim versions. The early Minor 1000 versions had SII seats and badges.
I'm not aware of any Minors left that still have the Manumatic clutch system in place. I've had a few of them bit all have had the system removed prior to my ownership.
I believe the system was fitted as a factory option to some Austins in the late 50's / 1960's.
