Badge in MM glovebox lid

I think I have just found the center badge for the 49 lowlight, but its missing the "emblem" in the center. Its just the right size to fit in the hole in the glovebox lid, made out of chrome plated spun steel with a black ring between two raised spun sections on the "face" and has two holes in the middle I assume under where an emblem itself would go, one in the middle looks like to hold it on to the glovebox lid and the other offset to one side probibally to locate the emblem. Is the emblem itself an enamel badge or a plastic stick on piece ? Would anyone have a photo of the center emblem so I know what I am looking for or know if they are available as a repo anywhere. I have one of the later plastic badges but I havn't ever seen the earlyer style before.

It was a good find because at the same time I found the original fuel cap and neck with the hinged petrol cap ! I had given up on ever finding one of those! It just shows it pays to have a really good look around when you pick something up because I missed both of these when I picked the car up.

The other option is the matching clock in the glove box lid

Yes, they do sometimes turn up: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=41936

Found an image on the mm sub site that may help, the 'badge' looks much the same as the one on the later plastic version

Thanks Dave, that conferms it, my badge is identical except the centre emblem is missing ! I had a pretty good look around after I found it but it looks like the emblem may have been missing for decades.

Mike, I like the clock idea, and I remember seeing one sold on "Epay" a while ago, and it made $355 Ausy dollars :o , I am afraid I don't have that sort of cash to spend on a piece of trim . I was intending to just use the plastic badge I have, but I think I will be able to do something with the steel one now I know what it looks like. I will keep my eyes open just in case something turns up either clock or badgewise.

Thanks blokes,
Graham

If you have the one on the 'plastic' version, maybe you could make a copy in aluminium and get the logo copied in coloured vinyl and stick it on?

Won;t be an exact replica, but with care could pass for original?

Thanks Dave,
I showed it to one of my "spys" and he thinks he knows where one is ! Aparently another fellow in the district used to have several minors and he thinks he remembers one like it in a box of parts he has. He has since sold the minors but still has a few of the bits he collected back in the 80s.

Did you ever get the centre emblem badge for the glovebox?

I have recently gained some MM parts out here in Melbourne, Australia and have two of the plastic emblems complete, one of the spun metal earlier type, and a spare badge on a stalk. I know that they are hard to find!

Also, there is a petrol filler tube with the hinged lid or cap, though the chrome is rather average. Phil
