Anyone done this modification?
Parts sourced from AES (auto electrical supplies)

Looks like a solution to the poor reliability of replacement flasher units. (Time will tell, once fitted).

More important, does it make a loud click so you don't leave them on?

You NEED a warning light - but there are other ways to provide it, I'm not sure you NEED a click?

my flasher unit is as quiet as a mouse in carpet slippers !!! so i've wired a 12 volt buzzer ,as the little green stalk light hides behind the steering wheel bar,and i haven't got round to fixing it yet as it doesn't self cancel either !!!

You may need to move it inside the car under the dash to hear the noise.

I tried LED bulbs, but they flashed at the wrong rate/failed to flash when front and rear connected so went for 'chrome' bulbs instead

If you can get it working it would be interesting if you listed what you parts had actually used

Would have preferred 'when I get it working' however I will publish all the info as requested.
I have provided a link to the source suppliers in the origional post.
The flasher unit being supplied is "specially suited to LEDs" . Hopefully flash rate willl be ok.
Will update on completion..

LEDs will not work with the original flasher can. But why would you want LEDs anyway??

Success..........

Fitted it all this afternoon, initially on selecting turn just the external indicators illuminated on the selected side....humph!!.
Swapped + and L and yipee all functions correct . (maybe something to do with polarity change of car eons ago , electronics are polarity sensitive methinks.).

This Modification was prompted by
1) an erratic internal repeater light (probably old indicator can giving out)
2) Having tried two in no: brand new replacements (one of which blew the fuse !) and when fuse replaced didn't operate but kept interior indicator on all the time.
The second replacement did the same without a fuse blowing. the only light was again a continuous interior indicator and zilch response from indicators outside.
Replacing old unit (until arrival of new electronics) at least gave the occasional internal repeat. and external indicators correctly.

All components were sourced from Auto Electric Supplies Ltd.
Parts being 4 of BA15S 19 LED Amber 132401
and flasher unit LED Flasher unit 12v 140107
the 6 digit no's are AES stock numbers.

Total cost £43.40 inc delivery a bit expensive but very satisfying now it all works.......

Hope all this info is of use to someone.

In answer to why LEDs well I was not prepared to continue trying replacement cans when this solution was staring me in the face and it is an improvement of sorts imho.

Also this unit is whisper quiet so for those that require 'sound' an additional buzzer would need incorporating.
