which oil in shock absorbers

Hi just wondering which oil would you need to top up shock absorbers "mort" is a 1969 traveller. Any tips would be great. Thanks

empty them and replace with SAE40 oil, its motor bike oil and stiffens them up nicely giving a much better ride. if you want standard oil, halfrauds standard shock absorber oil will do

As above - SAE 30 or even better SAE 40 (that's NOT 10W40...) -and yes drain out the horrible old oil and flush though with the new oil a couple of times. Front dampers are easily done on the car - as is one of the rear dampers, however the other one is at an angle and difficult to fill properly - either remove it - or just undo one bolt, slacken the other, and swivel the damper till it is sitting upright.
