Hi all
A college wants a cam shaft, I have one, but it has some pitting, is it serviceable.
What do the 2 rings mean

According to Dave Vizard - A series engine tuning guru in his book on the subject, the two rings confirm that the cam is a 12G 726 spider drive cam or 12G165 or AEA 630 pin drive cam (this was what was used on the Minor). As far as I am aware it has no preformance function - just identity. Others will confirm whether the pitting on the lobes is acceptable but to me they look a bit past it.

Hope that helps

I agree, that pitting will seriously reduce the life of the cam and follower.

It is an AEA 630 and it would have been a decent upgrade on a 948 engine - but it's too far gone........
