Hi
My 1971 Moggy saloon has a pair of lap belts fitted to the rear seat (they look quite modern). Does any one know if they are these still legal?

I think they are yes, although my thoughts are they wouldn't stop you from head butting someone in the front seat. I would definitely look at replacing them with ones that go over the shoulder.
Here's my attempt at fitting them:

Yep! Probably safer all round to go into free flight in an accident than have serious gut injuries! Rear inertia reel seat belts can be easily fitted, and give far more chance of walking away! Personally I think the aluminium billet parcel shelf guides look a bit OTT, but the MGF ones aren't too expensive, or just use some heavy duty panel edging from "Woolies", "East coast trim" or similar. This is like the stuff around your door apertures, but without the "balloon" edging added
