been trawling flebay for bits and i came across this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOULDED-CAR-C ... 53e39105a3
what a fantastic idea, no more faffing with badly fitting carpet around the prop shaft tunnel or getting it wedged under the seats.
clever people they have in the colonies.

Interesting - might be a bit of a chore topping up your master cylinder (if you have no remote reservoir) and getting the steering rack greased/oiled!

true, but i assume its flexible enough to peel it back for the steering rack hole. as for the master cylinder, not sure about that one, maybe a remote one would be good with one of these

Did you spot the postage would cost more than the item...

So- we have no-one in this Country in the market of doing this? Must be a known procedure, which would be attractive to no end of Classic car owners. An ideal market opening for someone, surely!

Newton Commercial already produce heat moulded carpet sets for various classic vehicles, including Minor gearbox/handbrake tunnel carpet.

TO SUIT ALL:
LEYLAND MORRIS MINOR
1948-1965
Really? Its a rather different shaped gearbox tunnel in a pre 58 Minor. Same carpet can't possibly fit both even remotely well, and what happened after '65 then?
May just be their way of describing it but '48 to '56 and then '57 to '71 would have been more encouraging.
(without checking, maybe Australian imports ceased in '65 perhaps).
Personally I'd prefer to be able to lift out the four floor mats (original rear mats weren't held down by the seat bolts) to clean them and inspect the floor for dampness and any onset of corrosion, and as minors never had vac formed carpets it seems an improvement just for the sake of it - ie: a company investing in the kit to do heat formed carpet as its correct for many later cars and trying to use the new kit for as many cars as possible....

If you read down further it states that after purchase e-mail them with model and year, auto/manual, lhd/rhd colour, thereby getting a moulded carpet for your car. I assume they have moulds for most car and produce your one to order

Yes I'd hope thats the case. Just could have been worded clearer. Good range of colours too, but I stand by my views of easier maintenance with a standard style multi piece set.
