I realise that the Ford Gearbox, Type 9 is the common 5 speed conversion but, I'm favouring the Toyota conversion.

However, I'd like to accquire as many of the fitting kit for the Toyota conversion as possible so, if you can help, along with comments about how to go about it, it would be appreciated.

I have the Toyota T50 conversion, and it is superb. The gearbox alone is very rare these days, and I would think that the conversion kit is likely to be extremely difficult to find. The unique parts are the bell housing, clutch release arm bracket, clutch mechanism bracket on the gearbox itself, gearbox mounting, gearbox crossmember, propshaft and the clutch driven plate.

For a 1275 Spridget engine, the clutch driven plate is an AP Racing part and was still available recently, the 948 and 1098 I think were 'specials', and I have never seen one for a Marina/Ital engine.

I have the complete fitting instructions if you would like a copy - please let me have your email address. The main changes required are to the gearbox cover, fairly extensive and mounting the new gearbox crossmember - quite easy.

What sort of spigot bearing/fly wheel have you got for this gearbox? I ask because I had a Toyota box fitted to mine, but couldn't quite fabricate a 'perfectly' suitable spigot bearing. I used a 12mm(id) bronze bush,which was fine for a few thousand miles but started to spin within the 'lashed' up housing I made (this was welded to the flywheel).

I can make a more sophisticated housing next time but if there is a kit available... In the mean time I've fitted a Triumph O/D box. This works well but I really want my Toyota box back.
