is this correct? and anyone have a suggestion as to the best place to get one and a matching jet?

AN is standard for a standard 1098 with a HS2.

The needle and jet shouldn't be worn as with the needle centred correctly the two should never touch.

You can get a needle and jet from any Minor parts supplier... i think there's one in Burmingum

Also try this website for all carb parts and most fuel pump parts too. :D

Why do you think it is worn?? Hardly worth getting new parts for this - just set up what you have, correctly.

hi co2 is spot on at tick-over but rises as the revs go up to beyond the ideal level,it starts to run rich, plus the needle has slight ridge marks on it

Sounds like someone has tried to modify the needle for extra richness if it has 'ridge' marks on it.

£45 is a LOT - most carbs just need a good clean up and possibly a new float valve.
