Hi
I have a 1960 MM 1000 with a rebuilt engine, the engine came from an Austin.(9 CG DA H 18521) The problem is that my car hasn't been started in many years. I didn't know that it has a mechanical fuel pump. I can't get it to start. I've tried spraying gasoline into the carburetor. How my question is it possible to put a electrical fuel pump into my rebuilt engine?
another stupid question if the electrical system negative ground should the pump also be negative ground?

The fuel pump SHOULD be an electric SU unit with single points which can be found from any Morris parts supplier or second hand/recon on e bay. There are plenty around and the fitting is very straight forward. Post back if still unsure. Perhaps a photo of your pump would help determine what you have and what you need

The mechanical pump on the Austin engine is ideal - use it! But - if it doesn't start when you spray/pour a little petrol into the carb - then the problem is NOT fuel related. So -assuming mechanically the engine is ok, it must be an electrical/ignition failure. Sort that out first!
