Plastic model of Morris 1000?

Post by Hairy Trafic »

Hi. I am trying to track down a plastic model/kit of a Moggy saloon? Have seen thread about Airfix model with good pictures of Revel Traveller kit, but was told today that Airfix did a kit some years back but the wonderful web has let me down as can only find mini minor kit details.

i've never heard of an Airfix Minor saloon and having been collecting model Minors for quite a long time I suspect I would have done. I think the Revel traveller is the only plastic kit ever made. (various 1/43 white metal kits have been done though).
Would love to be proved wrong though :)

Looking at the discussion in January, it would appear to be the Mini - there seems to have been confusion about this:

Airfix made a model in 1/32nd scale of the Morris Mini Minor, not the Morris Minor,it is incorrectly listed in Arthur Wards book on airfix collecting and also on an airfix collectors site as 'Morris Minor',ommiting the 'Mini'.It was released originally in 1961.

I just google searched " Revell Morris traveller" and found one image of the box, and it looks amazing :o
If enough of us were to email Revell do you think they would put it into production again? I have noticed an Austin Healy kit fairly recently over here however it was rather expensive.

There are plastic bodies made in saloon traveller and van forms made for Mardave remote control racers. Not exactly what you are after but worth a look. Search eBay for "morris minor mardave"[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

after much thought, I fired an e-mail to Airfix asking if they would be kind enough to possibly look into putting a model into production. I pointed out this thread, and another, telling them that at least morris minor owners would be interested. I will post back when/ If I get a reply.

There is a guy in the USA under the name Model King who reproduces old AMT kits, I am not sure if he does the Revell ones, maybe he could be contacted about the Revell traveller kit?
