Does anyone know the rate of a Traveller 7 leaf spring in Lbs. We have a coilover conversion in progress and need to select a rate which will be a multiple of this. Thanks in advance.

I will look back through my "records", a couple of years ago Jones were developing some parabolic springs for me, i have their figures in the pile here somewhere! 170 pounds per inch strikes a memory, 125 for the saloon, but I will check.

I am not sure what the spring rate is but do remember seeing it written in a Haynes workshop manual (I think).

However a guide for spring rate will be in the region of 170lb to 200 lb/inch. But a lot depends on the amount of travel, vehicle weight and indended usage.

Hmm 170lbs eh, more than I expected, my Cortina was using 110lb rear leafs and it took a 250lb spring for the coilover to set it right so we could be looking at up to 400lb for the Traveller (seems at lot but the big rate for the Cortina seemed wrong and was'nt.....proved with an initial choice of 120lb which sank to the stops under the monthly shop). Thank you for the info.
