I wonder if any of you have had this problem.

I fitted a new wheel bearing to try and cure a whining noise from the back axle ( now I have realized that it was the diff ) the new wheel bearing actually had more play in it than the old one. Was I just unlucky ?

Cheers,

Will

Change back to the good old one - there should be NO play in the bearing.

Already done that BMC :) Should I expect this from replacement wheel bearings from now on ?

Hi

Bearings are graded for different tolerances The original fitment was an R&M bearing ref LJ35 and is graded OOO.

The original BMC bearing part number is AMK777.

Modern stock replacements will generally have more play than the originals and are mostly sourced from China...unless you go to a bearing specialist to get the correct grade or keep an eye out for old stock :( :(
