Door locks on 1969 2 door

I have read all the posts about door locks but they don't help my problem. Both doors lock but the lock tongues only engage the part on the body by about an eighth of an inch which doesn't seem very secure. How can I make an adjustment so that there is more overlap?
Thanks,
Mike

If it would make you feel better you could make some shims to move the catches out a bit.
To be honest your time would be better spent fitting a hidden switch as an immobiliser.
Thieves tend to break windows rather than jemmy doors open as carrying a crow bar is frowned upon.
