Bother, my welder is playing up - wire seems to jam where it enters the torch leading to kinks at the reel. Anyone else had problems like that and anyone got a fix - should I just replace the torch head?

Rusty wire? New nozzle required?

With some welders you can replace just the nylon tube linning for the wire.Check with the local Welding shop, quoting your
make and model and see if a new liner is available.Seek their advice as to likely causes for that particular model and whether your diagnosis is correct.Then before purchasing......
Unplug the welder obviously !!
Carefully dis-assemnle the torch head, watching out for flying small springs, etc.Look for any obvious faults/ broken parts.
It may be just that the liner has "dis-engaged" at the torch end.You never know.

For the future, try to keep the bends in the cable as "gentle" as you can.Not easy sometimes, when you are clambering around inside a car but it all helps to cut down on snagging.

Thanks for the replies guys. From what I can tell it all seems absolutely fine through the nylon liner it just sticks sometimes when it reaches the long springlike liner inside the swan neck. Everything is tightened up as it should be too.

If you are happy with the join between nylon liner/ metal swan neck, then as Roy suggests ..try a new brass tip.Are you discounting Roy's other valid suggestion..rusty wire ?
Does the wire run freely through the torch " un- hindered ", with the tip removed, and the cable laid out in a straight line ?

Yes - wire runs very freely otherwise and isn't rusty. I will replace nozzle and tip then perhaps a new inner coil
